Elsa RAMO Attorney/Owner

Ms. Ramo is an entertainment attorney, representing many corporate clients as well as individual writers, directors, and producers in the entertainment industry. Elsa graduated from University of San Diego School of Law, and began her career at Davis Dixon Kirby LLP as an associate establishing their Los Angeles Office. She founded her own firm in 2005 on the Universal Studios backlot when approached by several clients who wished for her to handle their independent productions. Since then, her practice has successfully grown and is currently located in Beverly Hills.

Her specialties span the spectrum of entertainment legal needs: Corporate/Entity Representation, Contract Negotiation, Review and Drafting, Producer/Writer Representative Services, Trademark and Copyright filing and litigation, and Corporate Formations, Acquisition, and Mergers. The focus of her practice is to be a legal resource to film financiers, producers and other creative individuals in the film, music and television industries.

Her law firm has three full time attorneys, a creative executive, and a full staff who have provided production legal services to over 50 television, feature film, short film and documentary productions. Some of which include: Weinstein’s TOXIC and SUFFERING FOOLS starring Alan Cummings and Anne Heche; ACROSS THE HALL starring Brittany Murphy; LOADED starring Jesse Metcalfe; Jamie Kennedy's documentaries UNWASHED (featured on Comedy Central) and HECKLER released this year; BORDER; Sony Picture’s CHASING GHOSTS, with Michael Madsen; Lions Gate’s GENE GENERATION; CREEP SHOW 3; the television series THE DL CHRONICLES featured on Here!; and THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE directed by Blair Underwood.

Additionally, Elsa Ramo has produced GHOST GAME and CULT (Taryn Manning), was an associate producer on THE LAST SENTINEL, and co-produced A WOMAN CALLED JOB (Adam Garcia), IN NORTHWOOD (Nick Stahl, Olivia Wilde), and HECKLER (Jamie Kennedy).

She has been a panel speaker at: Boston University School of Law, the San Diego Film Festival, University of San Diego Law School, Film Independent, the City of Angels Film Festival, and the University of Southern California. Additionally, she has lectured on film financing and film delivery for private lectures and for the California Lawyers for the Arts and IIFF (Institute for International Film Financing).

Erika CANCHOLA Attorney

Erika Canchola graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University and received her Juris Doctorate from Boston University Law School, where she focused her legal studies on entertainment law. During law school, she was an Editor for the Public Interest Law Journal and President of the Communication, Entertainment and Sports Law Associate. She also worked for California Lawyer for the Arts, Law Offices of Vinca Jarrett & Associates, and WGBH.

Upon graduation, Erika joined the Law Offices of Elsa Ramo full-time as an associate. She assists in Corporate Formation, Trademark and Copyright filing and litigation, Contract Review and Drafting, Production Legal, and Writer/Artist Representative Services.

Yvette THOMASSIAN Attorney

Yvette Thomassian graduated from the University of San Diego in 2005 receiving a B.A. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Media. Yvette subsequently received her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2008 where she concentrated her studies in entertainment law. While at Pepperdine, Yvette served as Chapter Justice for Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity and was an active member of both the Armenian Law Student Association and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. Also during law school, Yvette worked for the entertainment law firm Eclipse Law Corporation, and at both Universal Studios and Gold Circle Films in their legal affairs departments.

Yvette joined the Law Offices of Elsa Ramo in December of 2007, and became a full-time associate upon her admittance to the California State Bar in 2008. She assists in production legal by preparing script clearance reports, title reports, copyright filings, and contract drafting. Yvette also provides online anti-piracy monitoring services for a yearly fee for content-providing clients.
